Let’s give YIRMEYAHU (JEREMIAH) 23:1-16 another read from the 1st verse all the way to the 16th and see if we can draw a little better picture what and who YAHUAH was speaking to in regards to this Scripture reading and how can we apply it for today..

WOE be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says YAHUAH. 

Therefore thus says YAHUAH ELOHAI of Yashar’el against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you את eth-the evil of your doings, says YAHUAH. 

And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 

And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, says YAHUAH. 

Behold, the days come, says YAHUAH, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 

In his days Yahudah shall be saved, and Yisrael shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, YAHUAH TSIDQENU.

Therefore, behold, the days come, says YAHUAH, that they shall no more say, YAHUAH lives, which brought up the children of Yisrael out of the land of Mitsrayim; 

But, YAHUAH lives, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Yisrael out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. 

My heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine has overcome, because of YAHUAH, and because of the words of his holiness. 

For the land is full of breakers of wedlock; for because of swearing the land mourns; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right. 

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, says YAHUAH. 

Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, says YAHUAH.

And I have seen folly in the prophets of Shomeron; they prophesied in Ba`al, and caused my people Yisrael to err. 

I have seen also in the prophets of Yerushalayim a horrible thing: they break wedlock, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none returns from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Cedom, and the inhabitants thereof as Amorah. 

Therefore thus says YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Yerushalayim is profaneness gone forth into all the land. 

Thus says YAHUAH TSEVA’OTH, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of YAHUAH.

The Reason For The Season?

The Early Romans celebrated the Saturnalia on the Solstice, honoring their god Saturn. Saturnalia consisted of days of feasting and gift exchanges.

*The celebration of the Saturnalia was too popular with the Roman Pagans for the new Christian church to outlaw it, so they new church renamed the day and over time reassigned meanings to the traditions. 

The Refiners Fire

The Silversmith – Refiner and Purifier

There was once a group of women studying the book of Malachi in the Old Testament.

As they were studying chapter three, they came across verse three, which says: “He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver.” This verse puzzled the women, and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of YAHUAH.

One of the women offered to find out about the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible study.

That week this woman called up a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn’t mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining silver. 

As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. 

He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities.

The woman thought about YAHUAH holding us in such a hot spot – then she thought again about the verse, that he sits as a refiner and purifier of silver. She asked the silversmith if it was true that he had to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined.

The man answered “Yes”, and explained that he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left even a moment too long in the flames, it would be damaged.

The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, “How do you know when the silver is fully refined?”

He smiled at her and answered, “Oh, that’s easy. When I see my image in it.”

If today you are feeling the heat of this world’s fire, just remember that YAHUAH the Father and His Son YAHUSHA HA’MASHEACH are refining you. “You are predestined to be conformed to the image of Messiah.”

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” – James 1:2-4

We read verses like Malachi or in James to count our trials as all joy but often our hearts and minds go in the complete opposite direction.

But if we take an honest look at our life, a good hard truth seeking look, we’ll realize the trials and hardships that we have walked, trudged or maybe even crawled through have shaped us into the lovely humans we are.

Those trials scrape away all the pride, melt off the selfishness, and shape us into people who want to love like YAHUSHA who serve and desire for others to know the same YAHUAH we know that transformed our lives.

My trials have been shaming, icky and weary but it’s those hardships that have brought me to where I am today. A man who knows what YAHUSHA’s saving grace looks like.

What “terms” and “words” in the Scriptures really mean like new creation and redeemed. 

What it means to lay your burdens at the execution stake. Our past, our current trials are what connect us with those who do not yet know YAHUSHA. It humbles us to know we are in need of a Savior, a Shepherd to lead the way.

As the article said, if today you are feeling the heat of this world’s fire, just remember that YAHUAH the Father and His Son YAHUSHA HA’MASHEACH are refining you. 

“You are predestined to be conformed to the image of MESSIAH.” He is bringing you to a place where you are perfect and complete, lacking nothing. He’s melting away this world so you can join Him in the one to come.
