Unscriptural Holy Days: Palm Sunday and Easter

Unscriptural Holy Days: Palm Sunday and Easter

Hoyt H. Houchen, Aurora, Colorado

“Ye observe days, and months, and seasons, and years. I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain” (Gal. 4:10, 11).

The foregoing statement of Paul to the Assemblies of Galatia refers to Mosaic regulations such as. Sabbaths, new months, festivals, annual atonements, sabbatical years, and jubilees. These observances had been abolished (Col. 2:14-17). “The bond written in ordinances” which was taken away, is obviously “the law of commandments contained in ordinances” referred to by Paul in Eph. 2:15. “God has completely obliterated the document with its legal demands.”(1) Judaizers, however, had successfully enforced some observances of the old law upon the Galatians (4:10), although they had apparently failed to bind circumcision at the time of Paul’s writing.

The return to these “weak and beggarly rudiments” (Gal. 4:9) upon the part of Paul’s readers was a most discouraging factor, and it indicated that they had more zeal and interest in observing Judaistic regulations than in serving Christ. He feared that he had bestowed vain labor upon them. Lenski properly points out: “Paul’s work would certainly be in vain if all that it would eventually accomplish would be to make the Gentile Christians exchange their old pagan elements and observances for the old abrogated Jewish elements and observances.”(2)

A problem of man has ever been to place his unholy hands upon that which God has made sacred and holy. And, every case of man’s refusal to submit to what God has enjoined (e.g. Nadab and Abihu, Lev. 10:1,2), or, every instance where man relegates a command of God to the non-essential (e.g. baptism, Mk. 16:16) illustrates this truth. But this problem of man is also seen in reverse; that is, man has made holy that which God has never made holy. So, he either makes unholy that which God makes holy, or he makes holy that which God does not make holy. Both acts are sinful; man stands condemned in either or both cases. Those whom Paul addressed were guilty of the latter sin for they were making days, months, seasons, and years a matter of religious observance. The rites, ceremonies with respect to feasts, new moons, Sabbath days etc. were not to be observed under the law of Christ, but some were attempting to revive them. But, while many today may not attempt to revive such dead ordinances, they institute the religious observance of such days as Palm Sunday and Easter, the subjects of this article.

Palm Sunday

This is the name usually gives to the last Sunday of Lent (the Fast period observed before Easter by Catholics and many Protestants); it is named in commemoration of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem when the multitude took branches of palm trees (emblems of victory) and went forth to meet Him (Matt. 21:1-11; Mk. 11:1-11; Jn. 12:12-16). The date of its first observance is uncertain.(3) “In the Greek Church Palm Sunday was apparently observed as early as the 4th century. The writings of the Greek fathers contain allusions to the celebration of this day. In the Western Church there are no signs of the observance of it during the first six centuries.”(4) So, although the time of its first observance is uncertain, it evidently originated with the Greek Church.

Various procedures are employed in religious services on Palm Sunday. A description of how some of the Catholic Churches of the West observe this special day is given in the following: “A procession is formed, the members of which issue from the church carrying branches in their hands, and singing a hymn, suited to the occasion, of very ancient origin. In the Greek Church the book of the Gospels is borne in front. In some of the Catholic countries of the West, a priest, or occasionally a lay member, was led at the head, mounted upon an ass, in commemoration of Christ’s entry into the city-a usage which still exists in some parts of Spain and Spanish America. Before the party returns to the church the doors have been closed, and certain strophes of the hymn are sung alternately by the choir within the church and by the procession without, when, on the subdeacon’s knocking at the door, it is again thrown open, and the procession re-enters. During the singing of the Passion in the solemn mass which ensues, the congregation hold the palm branches in their hands, and at the conclusion of the service they are carried to their respective homes, where they are preserved during the year.”(5)

History asserts that the 4th century is as early as Palm Sunday was observed, so it is obvious and significant that this special day is not of New Testament origin. Its observance is therefore without scriptural authority.

Easter

The word “Easter” appears one time in the King James Version. Herod (Agrippa I), having killed James with the sword, imprisoned Peter, “intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people” (Acts 12:4). “Easter” is both inconsistent and erroneous upon the part of the translators of the King James or Authorized Version. “In the earlier English Versions Easter had been frequently used as the translation of pascha. At the last revision Passover was substituted in all passages but this.”(6) Pascha appears 29 times in the Greek New Testament, 28 times it is translated “Passover,” but this one time it is “Easter.”

To Pacsha, the Greek words in Acts 12:4 and translated “Easter” in the King James Version, have no connection whatsoever with the religious observance of what is known today as “Easter.” Arndt and Gingrich define the Greek words To Pascha in Acts 12:4 as simply “the Passover (Festival).”(7) The following by W.E. Vine is significant: “Pascha, mistranslated “Easter” in Acts 12:4, A.V., denotes the Passover (R.V.). The phrase ‘after the Passover’ signifies after the whole festival was at an end. The term Easter is not of Christian origin. It is another form of Astarte, one of the titles of the Chaldean goddess, the queen of heaven. The festival of Pasch held by Christians in post-apostolic times was a continuation of the Jewish feast, but was not instituted by Christ, nor was it connected with Lent. From this Pasch the Pagan festival of Easter was quite distinct and was introduced into the apostate Western religion, as part of the attempt to adapt Pagan festivals to Christianity.”(8) So, the word “Easter” in Acts 12:4 (AV) is an inconsistent and erroneous translation, and which regretfully has influenced many to falsely assume that the religious observance of Easter is of divine origin.

The observance of Easter as a religious holiday is of pagan origin. ” ‘Easter’ ” is a word of Saxon origin, and imports a goddess of the Saxons, or rather, of the East, Estera, in honor of whom sacrifices being annually about the Passover time of the year (spring), the name became attached by association of ideas to the Christian festival of the resurrection, which happened at the time of the Passover: hence we say Easter-day, Easter Sunday, but very improperly; as we by no means refer the festival then kept to the goddess of the ancient Saxons.”(9) The idea of Easter eggs came to us from ancient Egypt and Persia. The eggs are a sign of new life, handed down by legend that they are laid by the Easter rabbit on Easter eve. Churches are often decorated with white lilies, a symbol of purity and light. The cross is used as a reminder of the religious significance of Easter.

The first celebration of Easter in church history is dated back to the 2nd century. By the 8th century, Anglo-Saxons had adopted the name “Easter” to designate the celebration of Christ’s resurrection. “While there is reason to suppose that Easter had been honored from early in Christian history, the first definite record of its celebration is in connection with a visit of Polycarp, bishop of Smyrna, to Anicetus, bishop of Rome, in 154 or 155.”(10) A belief that Easter was observed by the New Testament Church would be nothing short of mere supposition. “The ‘first day of the week,’ the Lord’s Day, was the regular, weekly commemoration of our Lord’s resurrection. It is more than doubtful if there was an annual commemoration (‘Easter’) in Apostolic times.”(11)

Bitter controversies arose after the 2nd century as to when Easter was to be celebrated. Jewish converts in particular insisted that it be on the 14th of their month Nisan, regardless of what day of the week it would occur. The Romans and some parts of the East contended that it was always to be on Sunday. So, the question was whether the time for the celebration would always be on Sunday or the 14th of Nisan, whichever day of the week it would happen to be. But the problem became more complicated when a dispute arose in about 167 A.D. as to whether the celebration was to be on the 14th or the 15th of Nisan, some contending that the death of Christ took place on the 14th while others maintained that it was on the 15th.(12) The long dispute was one of the principal reasons for the convening of the council of Nicea in 325 A.D. A uniform day was decided upon by the council-that Easter should be observed on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the spring equinox.(13) Easter would fall in future years on any Sunday from March 22nd to April 25th. But the decision of the council did not settle all differences. Although the Roman Catholic Church and many Protestant denominations observe the date decreed by the council of Nicea, the Eastern branch of the Catholic Church has another date for the observance of Easter.

In no uncertain terms the apostle Paul denounced all unauthorized religious days and seasons such as Easter, Lent, Good Friday, Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, and Christmas. He strongly wrote, “Ye observe days, and months, and seasons, and years. I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain” (Gal. 4:10, 11).

Christians observe every first day of the week, the Lord’s day, by assembling for worship and engaging in those acts which are authorized by the Lord. This day is a memorial of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and the Lord’s Supper is a memorial of His suffering and death for our sins.

There is not one scintilla of divine authority for such unscriptural holy days as Palm Sunday and Easter. Thousands of people throughout the world observe these days and seasons with zeal, promptness, and precision, while at the same time, they reject God’s commands to obey the gospel by being baptized for the remission of their sins and living daily the kind of lives in harmony with the will of Jesus, the Son of God. They observe unauthorized days, but reject divine commands. Remember, it is sinful to make holy that which God did not make holy, and it is sinful to make unholy that which God made holy. How much vain labor of divine teaching is bestowed upon those who pursue either or both of these ways! They are the ways which seem right to men, but they are the ways of death (Prov. 16:25). May we never be guilty of making any day or season holy which God has not made holy, and may we be equally sure that we never relegate any of God’s commands to the realm of the unholy.

Palm Sunday Another Big Lie

Palm Sunday Another Big Lie

“Satan, the great counterfeiter, worked through the ‘mystery of iniquity’ to introduce a counterfeit Sabbath to take the place of the true Sabbath of YAHUAH.

Sunday stands side by side with Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Holy (or Maundy) Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Whitsun day, Corpus Christi, Assumption Day, All Souls’ Day, Christmas Day, and a host of other ecclesiastical feast days too numerous to mention.

This array of Roman catholic feasts and fast days are all man made. None of them bears the divine credentials of the Author of the Inspired Word.” (M. E. Walsh)

“The {Roman Catholic] church took the pagan philosophy and made it the buckler of faith against the heathen. She took the pagan, Roman Pantheon, temple of all the gods, and made it sacred to all the martyrs; so it stands to this day. She took the pagan Sunday and made it the Christian Sunday. She took the pagan Easter and made it the feast we celebrate during this season.

Sunday and Easter day are, if we consider their derivation, much the same. In truth, all Sundays are Sundays only because they are a weekly, partial recurrence of Easter day.

The pagan Sunday was, in a manner, an unconscious preparation for Easter day.”

Scripture’s Test of a True Prophet

Scripture’s Test of a True Prophet

There have been many beautiful songs, poems, articles, and books written throughout history in apparent harmony with the Scriptures that were never claimed to be the work of a prophet of the Most High.

As a result, the sheer fact that many beautiful books have been written under the pen name of Ellen White and her staff of editors, creative writers, and historians, is no guarantee in and of itself, that these are inspired by the Most High.

Rather, the STANDARD and TRUE TEST of inspiration must be based upon the foundation of Scripture alone, as defined below.

The standard of a true prophet is outlined in Scripture:

1 YAHUAH will speak to them in dreams, visions, and to some face to face (Numbers 12:6).

2 The  prophet will give signs and wonders that always come to pass (Deuteronomy 13:1).

3 If the signs and wonders come to pass, but the professed prophet teaches you to worship false elohiyms (gods), and  break the commandments, then he/she is not a true prophet (Deuteronomy 13:1).

4 YAHUAH will put the words in the prophets mouth, the prophet will not have to glean the thoughts or words from other sources (Deuteronomy 18:18).

5 If a prophet presumes to speak a word in My name, which I  have not commanded him to speak, or speaks in the name of other elohiyms (gods), that prophet shall die. (Deuteronomy 18:20).

6 When the prophet speaks in the name of YAHUAH, and that  thing does not happen, or come to pass, then it was not from YAHUAH. So do not listen to this professed prophet (Deuteronomy 18:22).

7 “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbor, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal.  Jeremiah 23:25-27

8 “Therefore behold, I am against the prophets,” says YAHUAH, “who steal My words everyone from his neighbor. Jeremiah 23:30 NKJV

9 “Behold, I am against the prophets,” says YAHUAH, “who use their tongues and say, ‘He says.’”  Jeremiah 23:31  NKJV

10 “Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” says YAHUAH, “and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet, I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” says YAHUAH.  Jeremiah 23:32  NKJ

11 “Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.”  Titus 1:14  NKJV

12 “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of the shamayim; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of the shamayim.” Matthew 5:19

13 Thus says YAHUAH . . . because they have despised the Torah of YAHUAH, and have not kept His commandments. Their lies lead them astray, Lies which their fathers followed. Amos 2:4

14 He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house; He who tells lies shall not continue in my presence. Psalms 101:7

15 A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness will utter lies. Proverbs 14:5

16 The elder and honorable, he is the head; the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail. Isaiah 9:15

17 No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth. They trust in empty words and speak lies; they conceive evil and bring forth iniquity. Isaiah 59:4

18 And YAHUAH said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.

19 Beware of false prophets. Matthew 7:15

20 There shall arise false Messiahs and false prophets.” Matthew 24:24

21 Believe not every spirit, but try the spirits . . . because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1

An Appeal for Spiritual Honesty

Make no mistake, not one of the Scripture’s testing principles of a true prophet as listed above is the apparent inspirational beauty of the written works.

A faith that believes Ellen White or any other self-proclaimed prophet to be a true prophet without the willingness to test all their prophecies to see if they meet the 100% accuracy standard of Scripture, is not honest.  A true test must include even the materials that fell into disgrace on behalf of Ellen White between 1844 and 1864, and in the early years of the church development, which have been long hidden from view by well-meaning folks who seek to save Mrs. White’s reputation and the thriving church corporation, believing they are protecting the cause of truth.

The Eternal Father has never required blind faith, but from the  standard of His sacred Word has given a detailed model for recognizing a true prophet so that none may be led astray.

Having a lengthy and sincere belief in something simply does not make it true, or its author a prophet of the Eternal Father, YAHUAH.  But a willingness to face the truth by exploring all sides of the issue (from several angles like a GPS) is the only way to determine with accuracy the truth on the matter.

The problem is most people are afraid to face truth’s lions for fear that indeed they have been wrong. Yet, is this not the very platform necessary upon which to step out in faith, trusting YAHUAH to guide you safely to His secure foundation, walking in the full LIGHT OF TRUTH.

For only the truth can set you free.  Falsehoods keep folks in bondage.

So what will it be? Bondage to a lie, or set free by the truth.  The choice is yours.

Men Have Been Studying The Calendar For Thousands of Years!

Men Have Been Studying The Calendar For Thousands of Years!

Today It Seems More Complicated Than Ever!

However, We Will Try & Make Things As Simple As Possible By Sticking To A Few Basic Principles!

The Times of Angels, Torah-Enoch & The Order of Malki-Tzedek

By Sholiach Moshe Yoseph Koniuchowsky

We have been studying & making progress in grasping all there is regarding Torah time & we share with you each piece as He, our loving Abba, reveals it to us. This is now our 37th year of study on this vital matter & so we bring you our latest & most up to date understanding, building & not negating past revelations of time restoration!

From our studies so far we can assert the following few details as facts:

-The Vernal Equinox is the sign that a New Torah Year can or is in its right season to begin. It can fall on any day within the same Equinox Week, when the 364 day count ends!

-Both The Vernal & Fall Equinoxes are confirmed by the shadows throughout the day making a straight line. A second witness is that only on the Spring and Fall Equinoxes does the moon rise in the east, in the same exact window that the sun sets in the west. A 3rd witness is that the year begins in the constellation of Pisces for at least another 400 or so years.

-Every 3 years Aviv 1 starts with a full moon on years 1 and 4 of a 6 year priestly cycle! That is when the full moon occurs on the same day as Aviv 1 which occurs, that same Wednesday, during Equinox Week.

-That the first 4th day of the week [the first Wednesday] after Day 364 [always on a Tuesday] is always Aviv 1 each and every year based on the Torah command of a 364 day year.

The Wednesday CLOSEST TO THE SPRING EQUINOX [either before or after] DURING The Spring Equinox Week, Sunday-Shabbat, week is always Aviv 1.

-That the Torah year always starts on a 4th Day-Wednesday & always ends on a 3rd Day-

Tuesday & is exactly 364 days as required by Torah, Heavenly Math & Tablets, The New Covenant & Enoch.

-That YHUH masterfully built in intercalation and there is absolutely no need to ever add days, months, weeks or years, as long as we wait each year until the first Wednesday after the 364th day on a Tuesday, during The Spring Tekufah-Equinox week Sunday-Shabbat. This method adjusts itself!

More Understanding! NOW PLEASE DO NOT GET ANGRY!!!! Most of you will never get the 364 day 52 week solar calendar right or YAH’s times right, because you insist on matching Gregorian dates with the calculated times of YAH! You cannot mix Gregorian data with biblical data-dates! Unless you want false calendars and violations of YAH’s

Torah! Let me explain!

First let us look at the Scriptures that require a calculated 364 day 52 week year! After all, seeking the correct times must be based on Scripture alone!

Jubilees Chapter 6:

30 And all the yamim of the commandment will be fifty two weeks of yamim-days and (these will make) the entire year complete. Thus it is engraved and ordained on the heavenly tablets.

31 And there is no neglecting (this commandment) for a single year from year to year [no year can have 13 months or more than 52 weeks, even by one day]. IF YOU FOLLOW MEN THAT INSIST YOU HAVE TO ADD A WEEK EVERY SO OFTEN, IT IS NOT OF THE FATHER!!

32 And command the children of Yisrael that they observe [all] the years according to this reckoning -three hundred and sixty-four yamim-days and (these) will constitute a complete year and they will not disturb its time from its yamim-days and from its feasts; for everything will take place in them according to their testimony and they will not leave out any yom-day nor disturb any feasts. IF YOU OBEY HIS COMMANDS, HE WILL SEE TO IT THAT YOU ARE GIFTED WITH THE CORRECT TIMES!! IF YOU DISOBEY AND FOLLOW GUESSWORK AND NOT HIS MATH FOUND IN HIS COMMANDS, HE WILL SEE TO IT THAT YOUR TIMES ARE DISTURBED AND NATURALLY YOU WILL BE DISTURBED ABOUT THAT!

33 But if they do neglect and do not observe them according to His commandment, then they will disturb all their seasons and [all] the years will be dislodged from this (order), [and they will disturb the seasons and the years will be dislodged] and they will neglect their ordinances.

34 And all the children of Yisrael will forget and will not find the path of the years, and will forget the new months and seasons and the Shabbats and they will go wrong as to all the entire order of the years. YOU WON’T JUST BE WRONG ABOUT THE CALENDAR BUT ALL THE YEARS YOU ATTEMPT TO KEEP THE FEASTS WILL BE OUT OF HIS ORDER OR BROKEN!!!

35 For I know and from now on will I declare it unto you, and it is not of my own devising; for the book is written before me, and on the heavenly tablets the division of Yamim-days is ordained, lest they forget the feasts of the covenant-brit and walk according to the feasts of the goyim after their error and after their ignorance. [If we become like little school children, YHUH will teach us His math [designed for men to work only in the heavenly & the earthly realm] and His ways-times, so ignorance over the true times comes to an end!]

36 For there will be those who will assuredly make observations of the moon [Strictly forbidden] how it disturbs the seasons and comes in from year to year ten yamim- days too soon.

37 For this reason the years will come upon them when they will disturb (the order) and make an abominable (yom) the yom of testimony and an unclean yom a feast yom and they will confound all the yamim-days, the kadosh with the unclean and the unclean yom with the kadosh; for they will go wrong as to the months [once you add or intercalate, weeks or days, at any time, in any year, you mess up the perfect order of the kadosh-set apart 364 day 52 week year] and Shabbats and feasts and Jubilees.

38 For this reason I command and testify to you that you may testify to them; for after your death your children will disturb them, so that they will not make the year three hundred and sixty-four Yamim-days [THIS PROPHECY HAS ALREADY COME TO PASS ON A DAILY BASIS!] ONLY; and for this reason they will go wrong as to the new months [and weeks by implication] and seasons and Shabbats and feasts and they
will [eventually] eat all kinds of blood with all kinds of [unkosher] flesh [the end of their rebellion, if they don’t stop adding days or weeks based on mere guesswork or human math, like intercalation rather than revelation of heavenly math].

Enoch 75: 2 the exactness of the year is – accomplished through its separate three hundred and sixty-four stations. Meaning, you must stop at day 364 for exactness, even if it is a few days before the Spring Equinox and it’s visible straight line sign or even if the Roman calendar says it’s on A Friday, Sunday or any other day! Again be careful to obey HIM and not mix biblical and Roman data!!!! YHUH is watching and testing you, with the restoration of Torah time! Even if science and religion are against the 364 day 52 week per year COMMAND!

Enoch 82:6 And the year is completed in three hundred and sixty-four yamim-days. Nothing confusing about exactness right! Obey and get it right! Disobey! And Stay Confused!

Enoch 71:32
On that yom-day the lyla-night decreases and amounts to nine parts and the yom to nine parts and the lyla 33 is equal to the yom-day and the year is exactly as to its yamim-days three hundred and sixty-four days!

Revelation 12:3 And I will give power to My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy one thousand two hundred sixty days [1,260 days = 42 months of 30 days], clothed in sackcloth.

Revelation 12:6 And the woman [Israel] fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by YHUH, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred sixty days [1,260 days = 42 months of 30 days]. If The Book of Revelation allowed for years with more than 364 days, 12 months and 52 weeks, then the 42 months would not be perfect months of 30 days each. We cannot make the perfect solar calendar like the lunar errors of the rabbinics, which would make us just as guilty as they are! YHUH has not given us permission to change or adjust HIS REVEALED MATHEMATICAL PERFECTION, designed specifically to work for you His follower! His times are designed NOT TO WORK for the worldly, fearful and unbelieving!

Torah! Let me explain!

You Have To Learn To Stop Mixing Biblical With Gregorian Data!

You are to ignore any and all Roman, Jewish or Messianic data. If you mix Roman data with biblical commands, your entire reckoning of time will be fully out of order, or broken! All you have to do to stay confused, is to adopt the guesswork of men, who believe that some years have 365.25 or 366.25 and some misled bible believers- teachers, that believe a year can have 370 or 371 days. You also must be willing to reject and delete the lies from your delicate minds that your secular teachers taught you as a child, in secular anti- Messiah classrooms, about the 365.25 day year and leap year lies!

If anyone intercalates even a single day, a few days, a month or a full week, in any given year, that breaks YHUH’s command to only count to 364 days, 52 weeks exactly, from now until eternity!

By disobeying YHUH, mankind falls into the trap of violating His Word! Since 364 is divisible by 7, we get a perfect 52 weeks of 7 days each, with 4 seasons of exactly 13 weeks + 4 season marker days 360 + 4 = 364! That means, using biblical DATA, the Vernal Equinox will always be during the last week of the year and New Year’s Day Aviv 1 on The Wednesday of that same Vernal Equinox Week, either before or after the Spring Equinox and the Wed. closest to it, as “364 math” doesn’t lie, because YAH cannot lie

He does not need to guess! The Vernal Equinox can and does shift to differing weekdays during week # 52, nevertheless, the divine mathematical formula used by YAH still must be followed! The counting ends on day 364 ALWAYS ON A TUESDAY of the last week of the old year during the Spring Equinox Week!

The Spring Equinox will always fall somewhere in those 7 days where the old year transits to the new one, always during the LAST WEEK OF THE OLD YEAR! Once every 6 or 7 years YHUH HIMSELF ADDS AN EXTRA WEEK to reconcile His time. He does it you and I are not allowed to!

If we adopt Scripture and not guesswork taught as the official calendar, the mathematics of heaven and its tablets will be stable, unchanging and easy to understand. If you count from any Wednesday Aviv 1 and OBEY YHUH by stopping at day 364 you will always end on a Tuesday. Now you may ask what if we don’t see the straight line of shadows, The Aviv-Ot Aviv-Sign, until say Thursday, Friday or Saturday and not Tuesday of that last week of the year? Answer. It does not matter!

The 364 day count will have ended on the prior Tuesday, always reckoned as day 364. If you grab this and stick to it despite pressure and appeals to your more common sense, time will never change and all YHUH’s appointed times will be like clockwork, keeping man’s guesswork out of heaven’s revealed math! Even though the straight line is in fact The Sign of The Tekufah-The Turn of The Year in every year and even if that Day 364 arrives before The Straight Line Aviv Sign, you MUST declare the next day after Day 364, always a Wednesday during equinox week, as New Years Day, Aviv 1.

This is a test from YHUH for you, to see if you will obey Him or man. To see if you walk by faith or by sight! To see just how hungry you are for sacred time, sacred ritual and sacred place! To see if like s.a.tan, you try to usurp YAH’s sovereignty and authority over time by inserting guesswork, days and human data! This is also a test, to see if you believe that YAH is restoring ancient manuscripts, used and preserved by the ancient Zadokite priests as His Word, as He Promised in Acts 3:21! Or will you rest your head on Catholic, Protestant and yes, even Messianic guesswork; so called “Cannon Scripture”!

As for me and my house, we will serve The Commander of the 364 day per year Command! Joshua 24:10

RECAP AGAIN- WE CANNOT VIOLATE A COMMAND AND GET THE TRUE SHABBATS!

Torah commands that the Torah year can only have 364 [360 days or 12 months of 30 days +4 season markers] days divisible by 7! Regardless of what man or religion or secularists think. We are called to follow Scriptures and obey whether we have or don’t have all the answers. Here are key verses that warn us about following man or a 365.25 day year; we see that YHUH declares that our weekly Shabbats and all other appointed times will be off if we do. He promises that to us, unless we obey Him and stick to the 364 day [360 +4 season markers] year despite what is going on around us and despite Roman data that seems to make so much sense! That’s if we truly desire His Shabbats and His ways!

Here are the clear commands AGAIN!

Jubilees 6:30-38, Enoch 72:1-2, 72:32-33, Enoch 75:2-4, Enoch 82:6-7. Two key points are in order.

The word EXACT OR EXACTLY OR EXACTLY IN ORDER from year to year until eternity starts, appear in every one of the 364 day per year references. That can only mean that YHUH sees our understanding and obedience to 364 days and 52 weeks in a year only, as our recognition that He, not science so-called, is the Adon-Master over the believer’s life. It is a requirement to keep things in exact order and any departure by even one day that allegedly floats or allegedly needs to be added, between now and eternity, will cause a disaster in man’s reckoning time. Adding a day or a week or a month to 364 days, 12 months and 52 weeks per year, will cause us to miss the wonderful set times. Let us be sincere but sincerely right, as we can be given the blessings of His Word and mind!

We cannot worry about the Roman dates that change due to the Gregorian calendar. We suggest counting the 364 days out from Aviv 1 each year [the very first Wednesday during the Spring Equinox WEEK] to be exact, marking each New Month. The command to count only 364 days a year is not a suggestion but a command from YHUH our Abba, regardless of what other intellectuals do, say or think! [EVEN IF THERE IS AN ALLEGED OR REAL 365th or 366th SUNRISE IN A YEAR, IT MUST BE IGNORED OR NOT COUNTED, as we wait for the Aviv 1 day to arrive. Torah, Enoch & Jubilees all say that every year will have 364 days and 52 weeks forever from year to year, ordained by heaven for man!! Heaven has gifted us the times of heaven written on the heavenly Torah-Tablets allowing us mere mortals to partake with angels!

Let us not squander that high calling! Man and astronomy-science say that the year is now 365.25. Who is right? Only The House of Zadok’s Everlasting Priesthood & Corresponding Anointing-Charge, resolves the Torah required 364 day [360 +4 season markers] 12 month, 52 week Solar Year. Praise be to YHUH-Yahusha for the unfolding revelation He is and will yet provide.

Enjoy the journey with us!

The Solar times of YAH do not ever use the moon for times and seasons as this is forbidden in Scripture, in such places as Torah & Jubilees Chapter 6! The 6 year priestly cycle First Chronicles Ch. 24:1-19, uses the moon phases of full and dark moons to establish when the Zadokite priestly order starts their assigned weeks in the Temple.

These 2 checkpoints occur monthly, to make sure the priestly orders are ready, prepared and correct in their turn/watch! These 2 monthly checkpoints were not used for time determination, as these were the Zadokite priests, who would never use lunar calendars, which is the primary reason they abandoned the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

To the true priesthood therefore, neither the full nor dark moons are new months & moreover are not to be observed like the fallen watchers used to.

They were mathematically calculated and recorded to and for the kohaneem-priests, who would then be on time in their commanded order, NOT OBSERVED WITH HUMAN EYES, AS THE FALLEN WATCHERS DID AND TAUGHT MEN TO DO! However……there IS IN FACT A UNIQUE PURPOSE FOR THE MOON, PREVIOUSLY NOT SEEN NOR UNDERSTOOD BY MANY AMONG US!

The moon incredibly enough as it appears in the Zadokite priestly order actually establishes the eternality of the perpetual 7 day weekly cycle!

The calculated dark and full moon phases are included by those solar calendar advocates, only to verify and display that the 7 day week has never changed and that these phases occur on the same corresponding weekdays of the modern week, as in Torah times & as in Messiah Yahusha’s time, as long as we make super sure to use the correct year in each recorded six year priestly cycle!

These phases confirm that not only the 7 day week has never changed but that most importantly, neither has the Shabbat on the day THEY, the Pagans call Saturday!

An easy way to see which year of the priestly cycle we are in is to see which priestly order starts it. [First Chronicles 24:1-19] Have a look for yourself!

-Aviv 1, 2022-Aviv 1, 2023 is year three in the six year priestly cycle. The full and dark moon days confirm that based on the Dead Sea Scrolls. The priestly order of Miyamin starts the year in service.

The lunar phases confirm the year of the cycle we are in. Aviv 1 has a full moon
in years 1 & 4 of a 6 year priestly cycle. The priestly order was based on calculation of lunar phases, and NEVER BY OBSERVATION OF THE MOON.

REMEMBER JUBILEES 6 & OTHER PLACES FORBID ANY USE OF THE MOON TO DETERMINE TIME. WE FOLLOW A SOLAR ONLY REVELATION! WE ARE MERELY SHOWING HOW THE PHASES APPEARED ON THE SAME DAY OF THE WEEK 2,000 YEARS AGO, AS THEY DO TODAY, SHOWING US THAT THE SHABBAT OF THAT DAY, REMAINS THE SAME TODAY, WITH THE HEATHEN NAME OF SATURDAY. Recall that every weekday has a pagan name, so one cannot accuse Saturday alone of being pagan!

****Gregorian dates change year to year regardless of Torah patterns. Roman data- dates need to be ignored and shunned every year!

****The Torah priestly cycles NEVER CHANGE & are as follows: Years 1-4 same, Years 2-5 same, Years 3-6 same.

***If we start every year on Day 4 – Modern Wednesday every year will end on a 3rd Day-Tuesday and will be exactly 364 days as required by Torah & Enoch!

Torah Witnesses For The Eternal Solar Calendar! Beresheth – Genesis Chapter 1 Verses 14-19 The First Torah Witness

14 And Elohim said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the shamayim to divide the yom from the lyla; and let them be for signs-witnesses [visible], and for moadim, and for [all] days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the shamayim to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And Elohim made-asah [assigned] two great lights; the greater light to rule the yom, and the lesser light to rule the night: therefore namely the cochavim.

17 And Elohim set them in the firmament of the shamayim to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the yom and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and Elohim saw that it was tov.

19 And the evening and the morning were Yom Reeve-DAY FOUR. RSTNE 7th Edition

This is why all years begin on Day 4 of the Spring Equinox week, on a Wednesday, the day The Father assigned [Hebrew-Assah] the lights!

What About These MOON Verses. Do You Just Ignore Them?

Psalm 89:37- IT shall be established le-olam-va-ed as the yarayach, and as a faithful witness in the shamayim. Selah.

In verse 36 it is David’s seed that is made into a faithful witness preserved IN THE HEAVENS or the throne; just like the moon is in the heavens FOREVER; so the heavens is the place of the preserving of the faithful witness or YHUH’s throne- promises-Word FOREVER. This verse does not claim that the moon is forever faithful for telling time, as it remains sick and dysfunctional, giving unbibical 29 day months and 13 month years, which if blindly followed, will cause everyone to miss the appointed times of YHUH.

Psalm 136:9 – The yarayach-moon and cochavim to rule by night: for His rachamim endures le-olam-va-ed.

This verse DOES NOT CLAIM the moon as THE ruler of the night by its own light. Read it again! The stars rule the night and the moon joins that ruler as a lesser co-regent, as it reflects the sun’s light, along with the night ruler in TANDEM. The night ruler is established in Torah Gen 1:14-16 [as THE LESSER LIGHT-NAMELY THE STARS] not in Psalms. Remember the biblical rule of first mention.

Psalm 104:19 – He created the yarayach-moon for moadim: the shemesh-sun knows its going down.

20 You make darkness, and it is night: in it all the beasts of the forest do creep.

21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from El.

The moon IS a SIGN for NIGHT HUNTING BY THE NIGHT CREATURES before the sunrise. These verses have ZERO to do with the appointed times of Leviticus 23 for mankind, which are SOLELY SOLAR BASED. This misunderstanding has been a major erroneous assumption that somehow they refer to the feasts of YHUH.

PSALM 81:4 AND THE RABBINIC AGENDA! ד ִתּ ְקעוּ ַב ֹח ֶדשׁ שׁוֹ ָפר; ַבּ ֵכּ ֶסה, ְליוֹם ַח ֵגּנוּ

meaning blow IN-AT the MONTH the shofar, in-at the FULLNESS of the day of our feast…that means that on the Feast of Unleavened Bread in its fullness, we are to blow the shofar at our chag…in Torah a chag is only Unleavened Bread, Feast of Weeks or Tabernacles. [3 not 8 moadem]..see how slick the enemy is? The word moon appears nowhere here and neither does the term “full moon.” Of course the rabbis translate it as full moon, to make you a disciple of The Antiochus Epiphanies lunar calendar, FORCED ON JUDAISM after the Maccabean victory. It can also mean blow the shofar at the fullness of the feast of Unleavened Bread, based on verses 5-6 which refers to the Exodus. Nothing to do with anybody’s moon!

This says YHUH To His Eved Sholiach Moshe:

“The greatest find at Qumran was not the community rules and regulations or any such thing but the restoration of my Shabbats [monthly solar dates]. Have you not noticed and have you not heard, that scholars did not declare that truth says YHUH? Rather they declared finding some solar calendar that was noticeably different and some man-made rules. But I declare to you the purpose of my allowing them to find, the scrolls, is to declare my appointed times regarding the sincere restoration of the Shabbat day when the dates were recorded and hidden in the earth for such a time as this; the discovering of the priestly Enochian ancient Shabbats and the dates [of the solar month] that my priests ministered on Shabbat, were not of interest to man; the scholars and the religious did not proclaim what I wanted declared for the joy and rejoicing of my people and their preparation says YHUH. But you and your fellows, you shall and must proclaim it says YHUH Tzevaoth!

Your Employer CANNOT Stop You From Keeping The Creation Week Shabbat!

Did you know a lot of USA believers who want to keep the Shabbat the day YHUH actually rested, CANNOT BE DENIED by federal law?

You cannot be fired or denied time off for Shabbat, or any day, as per the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964. So let’s stop the excuses and get busy with Abba’s business!!

http://www.workplacefairness.org/religious-discrimination

The only way they can legally deny you off, is if the employer can PROVE to a court, that by you taking Torah Shabbat off, that it will cause them undue loss like bankruptcy, which in most cases is a case they cannot prove!

ALSO, Jeremiah 6:16-18 speaks of returning to the ancient paths, where we will find or recover the good-mature ways of our Messiah, the patriarchs, prophets and Zadokite priests. Since that is true, we know they were experts at tracking the circuits of the sun, in order to determine and establish all the appointed times and weekly 7th day Shabbats, with a clear declaration of day 364 and Aviv 1, the closest

Wednesday during The Spring Equinox Week when the old year transits into the new year after EXACTLY 364 DAYS HAVE BEEN DECLARED!

16 This says YHUH: Stand in The Derech-Way, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the tov derech, and have your walk in it, and you shall find rest for your beings. But they said, We will not walk in it!

17 Also I set watchmen [Hebrew-Netsarim] over you, saying, Listen to the sound of the shofar. But they said, We will not listen! RSTNE 7th Edition

Here are a few more Scriptures teaching us not to use heathen data but our own Zadokite priests and heavenly revealed math, in the camp of the redeemed; this high calling remains our responsibility collectively as a people!

Shemot-Exodus Ch. 20:

8 [Daled] Remember the Yom Ha-Shabbats [LXX-52 weekly and annual – not 53 as some teach], to shomer [guard-view] them as kadosh.

10 But the seventh yom is the Shabbat of YHUH your Elohim: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male eved, nor your female eved, nor your cattle, nor your ger, nor a convert that is within your gates: RSTNE 7th Edition

Shemot-Exodus Ch. 31:

Devarim-Deuteronomy Ch. 5:

14 But the seventh yom-day is the Shabbat of YHUH your Elohim: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male eved, nor your female eved, nor your ox, nor your donkey, nor any of your cattle, nor the ger that is within your gates; that your male eved and your female eved may rest as well as you.

15 And remember that you were an eved in the land of Mitzrayim, and that YHUH your Elohim brought you out from there through a mighty hand and by an outstretched Arm: therefore YHUH your Elohim commanded you to shomer [guard-view] Yom Ha- Shabbat. RSTNE 7th Edition.

Some Interesting Tidbits!

-More Proof That Day 4-Our Modern Wednesday Was Lit Continually In The Temple-

The lamps of the menorah were lit daily from fresh, consecrated olive oil and burned from evening until morning, according to Exodus 27:21.

PROOF THAT THEY TOLD TIME BY THE 7 BRANCH MENORAH NOT THE RABBINICAL CALENDAR!!!!

The Roman-Jewish historian Flavius Josephus states that three of the seven lamps were allowed to burn during the day also; [13] however, according to one opinion in the Talmud (Rashi, Tractate Shabbat 22b), only the center lamp was left burning all day, into which as much oil was put as into the others. Although all the other lights were extinguished, that light continued burning oil, in spite of the fact that it had been kindled first.

DAY 4 OF THE WEEK-MIDDLE LIGHT OF THE MENORAH LIT FIRST AND BURNED ALL DAY AND NIGHT AS THE SIGN OF THE MESSIAH [WHO CAME ON DAY 4 OR 4,000 YEARS AFTER ADAM AND EVE]. THE FIRST SHABBAT EACH YEAR is always 3 days after AVIV 1!

YAHUSHA THE ALEF TAF DAY 4 CALLED THE LIGHT OF ELOHIM BURNS CONTINUALLY!

Also mentioned in I Samuel 3:3. The miracle of the Ner Hama’aravi ended about 40 years before the destruction of the Temple (30 CE) according to the Talmud (Tractate Yoma 39a), “Our Rabbis taught: During the last forty years before the destruction of The Second Temple (that is to say from around 30 CE the very year Yahusha died) the lot [‘For YHUH’] did not come up in the right hand of the priest; nor did the crimson- colored strap become white; nor did the westernmost light shine” or that middle light of Messiah!

BECAUSE THEY PUT THE LIGHT OUT, DAY 4, ALEF TAF, STOPPED STAYING ON 24/7….THIS PROVES BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT AT THE TIME OF YAHUSHA, THEY KNEW THAT TIME AND THE TORAH WEEK CENTERED AROUND DAY 4 of Week One-Modern Wednesday, NOT DAY 1 of Week One!!! SHEMA YISRAEL!!!!

4Q394 1-2 (Cave 4) – Note yet another SIGN- Where was the Torah Shabbat confirmed in the Dead Sea Scrolls? Cave 4, corresponding to day 4 of week 1. Another YAH- Incidence!

From Professor Rachel Elior a rabbinical Jew-“The present Jewish calendar is not matching the old Jewish priestly calendar. This ancient priestly calendar was replaced by the Greek lunar calendar, in the time of Antiochus Epiphanies by force” and later on by the sages, who chose the lunar calendar based on the people’s observation and not by pre-calculated calculations.”

The Name Lucifer

The Name Lucifer

The name Lucifer isn’t in the Hebrew Scriptures.

It’s a mistranslation from when Jerome created the Latin Bible.

As a history junkie, this statement was much more interesting to me than a political jab no one will remember in a week.  Was this person’s claim true?  What is the origin of the name Lucifer?  I spent the next couple of hours investigating it.

The story of how the Bible came to its current form is much too complex for a blog post but for the last 400 years the English speaking world has mostly used the King James Bible.

The King James has had a huge impact on the way we speak today.  Many common sayings such as ‘bite the dust’, ‘fly in the ointment’, and ‘wit’s end’ along with thousands of other common phrases all originate from the King James.  It isn’t much of a stretch to state that the King James Bible has had more impact on the English language than any other book.  Yet in this version of the Bible the name of Lucifer is mentioned exactly once.

It occurs in Isaiah 14:12.

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Of course the Bible wasn’t originally written in English.  The main source for the King James Bible was the Latin Vulgate written by Jerome around 400 AD which states.

Quomodo cecidisti de caelo lucifer qui mane oriebaris? corruisti in terram, qui vulnerabas gentes?

This translates loosely to:

“How art thou fallen from heaven , O Lucifer, son of the morning like the sun? art thou cut down to the ground , you who laid the nations low!”

The confusion occurred when Jerome translated the Hebrew Bible into Latin.  Here’s the translation of the Hebrew Bible directly into English.

12 How are you fallen from the shamayim, O Heilel,[1279] son of the morning-ben shachar! [1280] How are you cut down to the ground, [1281] you who did weaken the nations!  [1282]

Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 14:12 RSTNE 7th Edition

Study Notes:

[1279] s.a.tan. “Heilel” means “the shining one.”

[1280] Idiomatic expression for “an angel.” In Aramaic it can also mean falling angel of the crescent.

[1281] Thrown out from heaven in eternity past.

Glossary of Hebrew Words:

Shamayim (H) The Heavens (Singular And Plural)

Heilel (H) s.a.tan

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the morning! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

Notice the change?  The meaning is essentially the same in all version but the original Hebrew referred to a morning star.  What is the Latin word for ‘morning star’?  You’ve probably guessed that it is lucifer.  In defense of Jerome, his wording had nothing to do with Satan as Lucifer was also the proper name for Venus, as known as the morning star.

Isaiah 14:12 was written as a metaphor.  In this case the ‘morning star’ is (most likely) referring to Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonian who conquered most of today’s Middle East in the late 7th-early 6th century BCE.  After repeated uprisings in today’s Jerusalem, Nebuchadnezzar took important Jewish families into Babylonian captivity starting in 597 BCE.  It was in this captivity where the Jewish scholars put the final touches on the books that made the Torah while adding further books.  Most of Isaiah 14 speaks about the godlessness of Babylon and how its actions will lead to ruin.

It mentions nothing of Satan and while some Christians have argued Satan was working through Nebuchadnezzar, the Bible does not state this explicitly.  All Isaiah states is saying Nebuchadnezzar had risen high and would eventually be struck low.  Later in Daniel 4:28-33, Nebuchadnezzar is shown to have lost his sanity though most history scholars feel this passage is really speaking about a later Babylonian king, Nabonidus, who is known to have had a nasty skin disease.  It fits the narrative as Nabonidus is also known to history as the last of the Babylonian kings.  In 539 BCE he lost his throne to Cyrus the Great, founder of the Achaemenid Empire, who eventually allowed the captive Judeans to return home to Jerusalem.

How did one mistranslated line about the ‘morning star’ in Isaiah 14:12 get into today’s vocabulary equating the devil with the name Lucifer?

It took time.  As people stopped using Latin, the meaning behind the words made less sense to future generations.  They began to understand the word Lucifer as a proper name of an individual.  When Dante completed the Divine Comedy in 1320, he referred to Lucifer as sitting in the 9th ring of Hell.  In 1654, Vondel made Lucifer the titular character in his play on the subject of Satan.  In 1667, Milton’s Paradise Lost speaks more specifically when he describes the angel Lucifer’s fall from Heaven to become Satan in Hell.  As time passed, these popular works meshed into Christian lore and the names of Satan and Lucifer became interchangeable.

Search the Scriptures

Search the Scriptures

Search The Old Testament Scriptures

YOCHANON (JOHN) 5:39

Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

What does Yahusha mean by searching the “Scriptures”?

When we use the term “Scriptures,” we are referring to the entire Book of Scripture. When Yahusha said, You search the Scriptures” (John 5:39), the New Testament had not yet been written; the “Scriptures,” which in the original language is γραφας (graphas) and literally means “writings,” Yahusha is referring to is just the Old Testament.

YOCHANON (JOHN) 5:40-47

And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. I receive not honor from men. But I know you, that ye have not the love of Elohiym in you. I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that comes from Elohiym only? Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, even Mosheh, in whom ye trust. For had ye believed Mosheh, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Isn’t the Old Testament sufficient for leading to “everlasting life” (John 5:39)?

It isn’t. In brief, the Old Testament is an account of how Yahuah Elohim created out of love and for love, but was betrayed by, mankind. He then chose, led and immensely blessed a people to demonstrate His continuing love for mankind, yet they betrayed Him over and over again. Instead of wiping us out as we deserve, Yahuah Elohim, who knew of the betrayals before He created mankind, foretold throughout the Old Testament that eventually, He will prove His unfailing love for us by personally paying the death penalty due for our betrayal, and reconcile us to Himself. The Old Testament was like a map to a priceless treasure. Just as the value of the map is not in itself but what it points to, the value of the Old Testament was not in itself but what it pointed to: salvation in Yahusha, to whom they “do not want to come” (John 5:40).

Do they believe even the Old Testament?

The Yahudim (Jews) were so wrapped up in their man-made laws and with each other that they had even lost sight of the real laws of Yahuah Elohim that were given through Moses, who wrote the first five books of the Old Testament: “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” (John 5:46-47)

Will knowledge of the New Testament save us?

Even though it is important to know exactly what and whom to believe in, knowledge of the Scripture by itself will not save us. There are many “scholars” who know the Scripture better than most Christians, yet do not believe in Yahusha and instead make a living trying to attack Him, not unlike the Yahudim (Jews) above.

How about believing that Yahusha is Elohim whose sacrificial death on the Execution Stake paid for sins?

The Scriptures declares with biting sarcasm, “You believe that there is one Elohim. You do well. Even the demons believe, and they tremble!” (James 2:19). Demons believe with 100% certainty that Yahusha is Elohim whose sacrificial death on the execution stake paid for sins, and even tremble – react strongly and emotionally – to that truth, which is more than what most “Christians” today believe and feel about Yahusha. But we know that demons are not saved.

Then what do we need to do that goes beyond what the demons do?

Be in an intimate, personal relationship with Yahusha. We need to submit to and obey Yahusha as our personal Savior and Master. We need to believe that Yahusha loves US so much that He sacrificed Himself on the execution stake to pay the death penalty due for OUR sins, and for that, be in love with Yahusha.

YAHUAH’s Four Spring Feasts

YAHUAH’s Four Spring Feasts

We will now look at each of the festivals, the Hebrew names, what they symbolize and what we are supposed to do to observe them.

YAHUAH’s  Four Spring Feasts Are:

● Pecach/Passover – observed in the first month of the Scriptural Calendar on the 14th day of Abiv.

● Unleavened Bread – observed immediately following Passover on the 15th day of Abiv.

● Feast of First Fruits – observed the day after the weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

● Shavout/Pentecost – observed fifty days from the Feast of First Fruits.

Pesach/Passover

The story of the Passover is found in Exodus chapter 12. There is controversy today as to when the New Year Abiv 1 occurs.

A lamb without spot or blemish was removed from the flock on the 10th of Abiv and was kept and cared for at the home of each family that would sacrifice it. They would carefully inspect it to make sure it was free of any blemishes.

Exous 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Yisrael, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

Exous 12:4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

Exous 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

The lamb would be inspected for 4 days. Often, it would almost become a family pet which made the sacrificing of it heart wrenching.

YAHUSHA was our sacrificial lamb without spot or blemish. He was also examined for 4 days when he entered the temple in Jerusalem on the 10th of Abiv and was condemned to die on the 14th (Passover). No fault was found in him – see Luk 23:4; 23:14; Joh 18:38; 19:4; 19:6.

Exous 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Yisrael After ensuring that the lamb was free from blemish, it was taken between the evenings (הערבים – Ha Erevim) on Abiv 14 and slaughtered.

YAHUSHA was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. He was taken on the 4th day (4,000) years and was slain as our Passover lamb on Abiv 14.

Again, there is controversy as to the meaning of “between the evenings.” When the Jews were in Babylon, they had combined Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread into one festival and simply called the whole 7 day observance Passover. This is why the account in the New Testament is hard to understand.

Most translations have the Passover lamb being sacrificed on the first day of unleavened bread. The Passover lamb is never sacrificed on the first day of unleavened bread; it is already eaten by then.

Mark 14:12 And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

This should read “And Before the first day of unleavened bread…” The word translated “first” is protos in the Greek, Strongs # 4413 and should be translated “before” which makes it harmonize with the rest of scripture. John 13:1 is translated correctly. The lamb had already been sacrificed before the first day of Unleavened Bread.

The Rabbinic Jews maintain that what is meant by “between the evenings” is from when the sun begins to dip from noon going toward sundown until sundown itself. This is what puts them off in their observance of Passover. The Karaites and Samaritans take the position that it is from 6 PM to 7:20 PM. I agree somewhat with this in that I believe that “between the evenings” is the period from sunset until total darkness, a period of about 45 minutes.

A careful review of the Passover account in Exodus 12 will show that the death angel passed over at midnight on the 14th of Abiv. The only night time portion of the 14th is at the beginning of it as the Hebrew days begins at sunset and ends at sunset the following day.

Many object saying that since YAHUSHA was crucified during the day time portion of the 14th of Abiv, that the Pharisees observance of Passover is correct. However, YAHUSHA did observe Passover with his disciples the night before, even though he was slain during the day portion of the 14th. He still died on the 14th and both observed Passover with his disciples and was the Passover lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The Jews eat their Passover on the 15th which is actually the first day of Unleavened Bread. That is not scriptural. The blood of the lamb was applied to the door posts in the Exodus account on the night of the 14th. YAHUSHA observed Passover on the 14th as did the Sadducees. This is when I personally observe Passover.

The Passover supper is called a Seder which is a ceremony full of symbolism of the Messiah. Besides being the lamb that was slain, he is also represented by the “Afikomen”, the middle portion of the unleavened wafer (Matzah) that is broken and wrapped in a linen cloth and hidden at the beginning of the ceremony. This represents the burial of YAHUSHA and is usually redeemed toward the end of the ceremony. The leader of the ceremony, usually the father of the household, will send the children out to look for the hidden Afikomen. When one finds it, the Afikomen is redeemed by a gift called the “promise of the father.” A small book of liturgy called the Haggadah (the telling) is used at the Passover Seder. Messianic believers have adapted the Haggadah to include scriptures from the Brit Chadashah. Passover is all about the Messiah, the false festival of Easter is not.

Feast of Unleavened Bread (Hag HaMatzah)

This feast immediately follows Passover and begins on Abiv 15. It is a 7 day festival in which no one is allowed to eat leavened bread. The account can be found in Exo. 12:14-17. This symbolizes the leaving of Egypt which to us today is a type of the world. We are to purge all the leaven out of our lives during this time. Leaven represents false doctrine which does lead to sin.

This first day of this Feast is also referred to as a high Sabbath. It was this Sabbath that the Jews had to get YAHUSHA’s body down from the cross before it began at sundown. A misunderstanding of this has led to the false doctrine of a Friday evening crucifixion and Sunday morning resurrection of YAHUSHA.

When YAHUSHA was asked for a sign by the Pharisees, he replied that the only sign he would give was the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah was in the belly of the whale for 3 days and 3 nights, so shall the Son of man be 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth. (Mat 12:40; 16:4; Luk 11:29). Anyone claiming to be the Messiah and not being in the grave 3 full days and nights prior to his supposed resurrection is not the true Messiah.

YAHUSHA was crucified on a Wednesday afternoon and laid in the tomb before sunset which would have begun the Feast of Unleavened Bread. He arose 3 days later at the end of the weekly Sabbath.

The first and last days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread are Sabbaths in which no servile work is allowed (Lev 23:7-8). The keeping of the Feast of Unleavened Bread is to be:

Exo 13:9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that YAHUAH’s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath YAHUAH brought thee out of Egypt.

Exo 13:16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand YAHUAH brought us forth out of Egypt.

Deu 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

Deu 6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

The above scriptures remind us to remember the Law (Torah) of YAHUAH always. The keeping of the weekly Sabbath is also a sign between the children of Yisrael and YAHUAH forever (Exo. 31:16-17).

These scriptures are the basis of the Jewish practice of “laying tefillin” in which they bind a leather pouch containing several scriptures to their forehead and wrapping leather straps on their arms and shoulders. The last two scriptures above (Deu 6:8-9) relate to what is known as the “Shema” (Deu 6:4-5) in which is stated we are to love YAHUAH our ELOHIYM with all our hearts, souls and might. If we love Him, we will keep His Commandments which are found in His Torah.

All of these signs have to do with keeping YAHUAH’s Torah. The Jews take this literally by “laying tefillin” whereas we look upon this as something we do by obeying His Commandments. The mark of the beast may be something similar, such as what we think in our minds and put into practice with our hands.

Keeping the weekly Sabbath is a test to see if we will obey the rest of YAHUAH’s commandments.

Feast of First Fruits (Bikkurim)

The day following the weekly Sabbath during the Feast of Unleavened Bread is called “First Fruits”(Lev 23:9-14). It is always the first Sunday after Passover.

Lev 23:10 Speak unto the children of Yisrael, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:

Lev 23:11 And he shall wave the sheaf before YAHUAH, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.

Lev 23:12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto YAHUAH.

When the grain crops were ready to be harvested, an omer (about 2 quarts) would be brought to the priest who would then wave it before YAHUAH. This was the first fruits of the harvest and Yisrael was not allowed to eat of the harvest until the omer had been waved.

The Messianic fulfillment in this is the resurrection of YAHUSHA from the dead as the first fruit or the first born of many sons and daughters to be also raised. There are many verses in the Brit Chadasha (New Testament) that support this idea (Rom 8:29; 1 Cor 15:20,23; Col 1:15; Heb 1:6; Rev 1:5).

When YAHUSHA arose and appeared to Miryam (Mary), he told her to touch him not for he had not yet ascended to his father (Joh 20:17). He was the wave offering before the Father and was also our high priest. This was on the first day of the week (Sunday), the day after the weekly Sabbath.

The Feast of Pentecost (Shavuot)

Pentecost is also called the “Feast of Weeks”. From the time of the offering of the omer (wave sheaf offering), seven weeks are counted unto Pentecost, a period of 50 days. (Lev 23:15-21; Exo 34:22; Deut 16:9-10)

Lev 23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete:

Lev 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YAHUAH.

Pentecost will always fall on a Sunday. But, Pentecost on a Jewish calendar will vary wildly due to their faulty interpretation of the phrase “morrow after the Sabbath” of Lev 23:15. They conclude the Sabbath in question is the first day of unleavened bread which can occur any day of the week. Therefore, their 50 day count will begin the day after that and can fall on any day of the week. However, we know that the Sabbath in question is the weekly Sabbath. The day following the weekly Sabbath is Sunday; therefore 7 complete weeks later will also be on a Sunday.

Two loaves of leavened bread are to be waved before YAHUAH along with 7 sheep of a year old, 1 young bullock and 2 rams. The two loaves are thought to represent the two houses of Yisrael.

Pentecost celebrates the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai and is also the giving of the RUACH HA’KODESH (Holy Spirit) 50 days after YAHUSHA ascended to the Father as the wave offering, being the first fruit from the dead. The RUACH is a promise of betrothal in which we are given the earnest of the spirit until the day of our redemption. The keeping of the weekly Sabbath is our wedding band.

Pentecost (Shavuot) is also a high Sabbath in which no servile work is to be done. It is a statute to be observed forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

The giving of the Torah in reality was a betrothal contract in which YAHUAH proposed to Yisrael. Their acceptance is recorded in Exodus 19:8. They were to be a kingdom of priests, but they played the harlot with the molten calf. This was even before Moses could bring back the details of the marriage contract written by the finger of YAHUAH upon the tablets of stone. YAHUAH had the right to put His betrothed to death because of adultery, but only the intercession of Moses saved them. Instead of Yisrael becoming a kingdom of priests, the Levitical priesthood was created to mediate between them and YAHUAH. At our final redemption, we will become the kingdom of priests YAHUAH desired.

The above are all the spring feasts that were fulfilled at the first coming of YAHUSHA. They were fulfilled on the exact date to that which they represented. Is there any reason to think that the fall feasts will not be fulfilled on the exact date to that which they also pertain?

Meet Asherah, the Little Known Jewish Tree Goddess: The Origins and Practices of Tu BiShvat

Meet Asherah, the Little Known Jewish Tree Goddess: The Origins and Practices of Tu BiShvat

It’s high time to talk about this arboreal goddess.

Remember that time when Jews used to worship a tree goddess? No?! I do! Her name was Asherah and she was a tree!

Okay, maybe she wasn’t exactly a tree goddess, and maybe she wasn’t exactly worshipped by Jews. But we do have many references throughout the Bible to Israelite worship of a feminine deity named Asherah, a Canaanite goddess represented by a living tree. As Jews are about to celebrate Tu Bishvat, commonly referred to as the “Birthday of the Trees,” I thought it was high time to talk more about this arboreal goddess.

Asherah was the name of an Ancient Near Eastern goddess, also referred to as Lady Asherah of the Sea, Mother of the Gods (AKA a way more badass version of Daenerys Targaryen!). In ancient Canaanite religion (the ancient pagan practices of the people who lived in the land of modern day Israel/Palestine), she was the wife of Ba’al, and gave birth to the rest of the Canaanite pantheon.

As the story goes, when the Israelites entered Canaan, they encountered and, naturally, picked up on many of the Canaanite traditions, Asherah included. Women especially were drawn to Asherah-worship. All throughout both Books of Kings, we read of Israelites turning towards and away from Asherah worship.

We first get reference to Asherah in the Book of Exodus, but the clearest biblical statement about her is from Deuteronomy 16:21, which reads “lo tita l’cha asherah kol etz etzel mizbeyach YHUH asher ta’aseh lach; Do not plant for yourself an Asherah of any tree next to the altar of YHUH that you make for yourself” (my translation). This commandment is telling the Israelites to not plant a tree representing Asherah — teaching us that the Israelites knew that Asherah was represented as a tree — next to the altar of YHUH (Adonai, Yahuah, Eternal Elohim, Ruler of the Universe, Elohim… you know the one). And why does the Torah command us not to plant Asherah next to Elohim? Because we were already doing so!

In the Books of Kings, we read of Israelites planting Asherah trees next to the altar of YHUH.

Over and over again, Israelites plant Asherahs in their temples, and over and over, other Israelites tear them down. Basically, for hundreds of years, Asherah worship just skipped a generation.

Finally, a seriously monotheistic Israelite king named Josiah comes in, with his High Priest Chilkiyahu, and decides it’s time to burn down the goddess once and for all. (Spoiler alert: He fails.) He and his army scour the countryside and cut down, burn, and violently destroy every image of Asherah they can find.

While the Bible categorizes this as a win for Yahwistic monotheism (AKA what eventually becomes Judaism), archaeological findings have shown that Asherah worship persisted long after Josiah’s religious reforms. All through the Judean countryside, small statuettes of a half-woman, half-tree (whole Asherah!) appeared at the time of Josiah’s reform. These Asherah figurines would have been kept on private altars in Israelites’ homes.

Eventually, Asherah worship faded away, alongside many other idolatrous practices. Monotheism won, and Elohim was reimagined not as a singular male warrior Elohim, but as an infinite, eternal, non-gendered/all-gendered Elohim. But, as we know from every piece of Jewish art we’ve ever seen, the Jewish obsession with the sanctity of trees has lived on.

The transition from Asherah-as-tree-goddess to trees-as-metaphor-for-divinity happens clearly in the Book of Proverbs. Wisdom (AKA Chochmah AKA Lady Wisdom) is embodied as a goddess-like character, meant to be understood metaphorically.

Today, we chant a verse from Proverbs 3:18, “Eitz chayyim hi l’machazikim bah v’tomcheha me’ushar, She is a tree of life to those who hold fast to her and her supporters are blessed,” as we return the Torah to the ark, implying that the Torah is the tree of life.

Here’s a fun fact: The word me’ushar, meaning blessed or happy, is linguistically linked to the word asherah! They have the same Hebrew root, alephshinreish, and, therefore, we can understand that this verse is explicitly bringing Asherah, our beloved tree goddess, into the folds of Jewish thought by reimagining her gift of blessings within the monotheistic context.

When we call the Torah the Tree of Life, we are bestowing the blessed power that we once understood to be Asherah onto the most sacred teachings, our Torah, and onto ourselves.

On Tuesday, we will be celebrating the Jewish holiday of Tu Bishvat, the new year for the trees. Traditional Tu Bishvat celebrations include a seder, kinda like the one on Passover, where we celebrate the natural world and its gifts to us. And so, this year, consider celebrating Tu Bishvat, and uplifting the holiness and sacredness of our natural world, by channeling our ancient Asherah goddess power.

—————

Tu BiShvat (Ti BiShavat, Tu B’shevat, Tu B’Shevat, Tu Bishvat) is the Jewish new year for trees. It occurs on the 15th day of the Shvat month in the Jewish calendar. This is a lunisolar calendar, which means that the months are based on the lunar cycle, but years are based on solar years.

This keeps Jewish holidays around the same time of year, but since the months are based on the lunar cycle, the date of the holiday each year.

In Judaism, the age of a tree is important in determining whether you can eat the fruit from it. The fruit from a tree cannot be eaten for the first three years, and the fourth year’s fruit is only for Elohim. After the four years, you can eat the fruit from a tree. Tu BiShvat is the day that each tree ages a year for the purposes of determining if one can eat from it.

This holiday is a minor Jewish holiday, and it is not mentioned in the Torah.
